This is a super hotel, there is nothing not to like about it. We were in room 5 in the annex building just outside the hotel. I'd chosen a superior room which through Booking.com was a ridiculous £1 extra😁😁. It was a good sized room with a large bathroom and a small balcony. The air conditioning worked perfectly and being a very light sleeper the fact it made little noise was an absolute bonus as we're the blackout blinds and curtains. There was a stocked mini bar which was reasonably priced but we didn't use it. The room was cleaned each day immaculately.. very impressed. The hotel reception area is beautifully decorated with some stunning furniture in it. Similarly the garden area and pool are immaculate. It did get busy at times but never affected our usage of it. Breakfast is a continental style self service buffet with plenty of choice and hot drinks are made fresh and brought to the tables by the staff. The location is fantastic as it's a 5 minute walk down a side lane to the city walls. There are bars and restaurants two streets away with Gosto e Mea being a favourite. The small bar about 200m from the hotel ( right as you come out of the hotel door) is very much a working class bar and all the more fun for it. Opposite is a tiny pizzaria takeaway called La Rotella which were simply the best we've ever had in Italy and started at €6. We had lunch one day in the hotel, Spinach and ricotta ravioli with a sage butter which very good too. The staff are friendly and helpful and cannot do enough for you. I genuinely cannot find anything to raise as an issue. Perfect stay, perfect hotel, perfect location.

We had an enjoyable stay in Lucca. We arrived at the hotel to a superb and very friendly greeting by Francesco. The hotel is fairly dated but very clean and comfortable. It appears to be in a residential neighborhood but we found the bus system to be quite easy to navigate. I did not like the smell of the Argan toiletries. A no fragrance or light lemon fragrance would be nice. The breakfast was lovely and the staff were very attentive about providing espresso, cappuccino or other coffee. The walls of the hotel seem very thin and we could hear hallway and tv noises quite easily. The pool was not heated but we tried it anyway. Not great in October but I imagine very nice in the summer. We would probably stay within the wall of the city next time as it was a bit of a walk after long day climbing up the cathedral tower and walking around the wall. It was nice though and suited our budget.

From the minute we arrived until the time we left, the service we received from the Director Francesco and his team was absolutely exceptional. Our flight was delayed by over 3 hours and we did not arrive until after 3am. Francesco was in contact with our taxi transfer continuously, ensuring that we were picked up from the airport. There was a staff member waiting for us at the hotel at 3:00am to check us in and guide us to our room. Each and every staff member were so friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, informative and nothing was too much trouble. Francesco recommended 2 restaurants for us to eat and both were wonderful. The service received during our stay was 100% and we highly recommend Hotel San Marco in Lucca to anyone visiting the city. Peter and Gemma from Ireland 🇮🇪

Our stay at San Marco was more than we could have ever have wished for. Every single member of staff were exceptional, they were so friendly, helpful and just went above and beyond for us. All of the staff made our trip so comfortable and made us feel welcomed at all times, they truly are a credit to the hotel! Our hotel room was so clean and tidy and we were given fresh towels every single day which was lovely. The hotel is in the perfect spot to go and explore Lucca with just a five minute walk to the wall entrance. We loved our stay!

Everything about the hotel was just perfect for our needs. All the staff were so friendly and welcoming, from the man on reception when we arrived, to the staff who served at breakfast and in the bar area. Nothing was too much trouble. Our rooms were very clean and a good size, and the bed was very comfortable. It is a 10 minute walk into Lucca but we actually preferred being outside the city walls and enjoying the pool in the day before heading into the centre for dinner. We would definitely stay here again if we return to Lucca.
